I’ve been using AutoCAD 2010 for a few months now, and I’ve found some value in a few of the new features. One that a colleague pointed out to me is the new grip editing features for hatches. You may have noticed that when you click on a non-associative hatch, you’ll see grips appear.
It’s a handy way to quickly change those hatches without having to redraw the boundaries.
The other nifty feature is that you can add or remove grips, similar to the Pedit:Edit vertex:insert feature. Unlike Pedit, you can convert line segments to arcs. If you hold the mouse over a selected grip at the corner, or over the rectangular grip in the middle of a line segment, you will see a little tooltip pop up telling you that you can add or remove vertices.
I also appreciate the addition of the “recreate boundary” button in the Hatch Edit dialog. But with the addition of the grip editing feature, it has become less necessary to use associative boundaries.
