To wrap up my series about open source/freeware utilities for Windows, I’d like to present Folder View. This simple but useful application gives you a quick way to access shortcuts to your most commonly-used folders.

Folder View is pretty straightforward. A little yellow folder icon sits in your system tray, and when you left-click on it, a list of folders pops-up.
It’s easy to customize, too. Just drop a link into the Folder View folder (which you can set up to be anywhere on your computer).
There are also options to place Folder View in your standard windows Open and Save Dialogs. This places a link to the Folder View folder in the left pane, which, when clicked, gives you access to all of those shortcuts.
Also note that Folder View features a “recent” entry, which contains links to all of the recent folders you’ve visited. This is handy if you don’t have a shortcut set up for a job you’re working on.
It’s free, so give it a try!
